NÀDARRA FAMILY SESSIONS

family - chaotic, unfiltered & perfectly imperfect

Family looks different for everyone - small families, large families, fur babies, reptile babies and sometimes it’s our oldest and dearest friends. Whatever your family looks like, lets celebrate it together. We’ll run free in fields and forests, or feel the sand between our toes, chase waves and laugh in the sunshine and rain - Unscripted, joyful and beautiful real moments. Let’s capture them before they pass us by. If not for now, then for the decades ahead - isn’t that truly the most valuable possession we can have.

On the day

We will shoot at a location of your choice, whether that’s immersing ourselves in nature or stay cosy at home surrounded by all your treasured possessions. Whatever you choose, we will let the day naturally unfold - wild, tender, authentic family moments. I will never force a smile or encourage looking at the camera, only gentle prompts, not posed. Let’s capture all the beauty in the candid moments, the laughter, the tears, the tantrums, the joy.

  • In Scotland, we know there will always be a very high chance of rain. Don’t worry, I’ll never ask you to come along in soggy weather, we can easily reschedule and wait for the clouds to pass. But if light drizzle doesn’t faze you and you’re feeling adventurous, we can embrace the moment—dancing in the rain and capturing something truly magical. Either way, we’ll make sure your session feels relaxed and enjoyable!

  • For a natural, earthy aesthetic, the best approach is to keep outfits soft, organic, and cohesive with the surroundings. Think neutral, muted tones—beige, cream, soft browns, earthy greens, rust, or dusty blues—that complement nature and create a timeless, effortless look.

Comfort is key, so opt for breathable fabrics like linen, cotton, or knits that allow movement and flow naturally. Subtle textures and layering add depth to the images while keeping the look relaxed. Avoid bold patterns, neon colors, or large logos, as they can take attention away from the emotions and interactions being captured. Instead, choose simple, well-fitted clothing that feels like you.

Barefoot moments, cozy knits, or flowing dresses for a soft, organic feel work beautifully for capturing connection and movement. Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident—when you feel at ease, the emotions and interactions will shine effortlessly through the lens.

  • That’s a completely understandable concern, but the beauty of candid lifestyle photography is that it embraces real moments, exactly as they unfold. There’s no need for perfectly posed smiles or forced interactions—this is about capturing your children as they truly are, whether they’re shy, energetic, or somewhere in between.

Kids are naturally curious and expressive, and rather than expecting them to sit still or follow strict instructions, I create an environment where they feel free to be themselves. If they want to run, play, or explore, I follow their lead. If they need a moment to warm up, I let the session flow at their pace. Some of the most beautiful images come from those spontaneous giggles, mischievous glances, and quiet moments of connection—they’re all part of telling your family’s story authentically.

So don’t worry—there’s no "cooperation" required, just natural interactions and moments that celebrate your family exactly as it is. I’ll be there to gently guide and document the magic as it happens!

  • The key is to keep things simple and meaningful. Here are a few things you might want to bring along:

    • Comfortable, natural outfits – Choose clothing that feels like you and suits the session’s relaxed, organic style. Soft, neutral tones and breathable fabrics work beautifully.

    • Sentimental items – A favorite blanket, a well-loved stuffed animal, or even a special piece of jewelry can add personal touches to your photos.

    • Activities that spark connection – If we’re shooting as a family, think about things you love doing together—reading a book, sharing a snack, or bringing a toy that encourages movement and interaction.

    • Practical essentials – For little ones, snacks, drinks, and wipes can help keep them comfortable throughout the session.

    • Barefoot option – If we're in nature or at home, kicking off shoes can add to the organic feel of the shoot.

Above all, bring an open mind and a willingness to embrace the moment—your connection and genuine interactions are the heart of the session, and I’ll be there to capture them just as they unfold.n

  • Absolutely! Being a dog mum myself I completely understand the love we have for our animals - they really are part of the family. I am a huge animal lover so please all pets welcome, no matter the size.
